The great town of Caernarfon is not only a busy market town but a major centre for tourists. Caernarfon lies on the banks of the Menai Straits opposite the island of Anglesey and nearby to the university town of Bangor. The thriving harbour and marina is another great attraction to this historic town.
Caernarfon Castle History
Caernarfon castle withstood the siege of Owain Glyndwr in 1403. When the Tudors came to the throne in 1485, and with lessening tensions the Castle started to fall into disrepair. Now a World Heritage Site, the castle is visited every year by thousands of people. The grandeur of the castle is still seen unharmed, with the nostalgia of a great romantic era still in the air.
